Private Gifting
Terms of the service
These terms apply when you use Private Gifting. They sit alongside our general Terms of Service, and where the two differ on a point about this service, the terms on this page apply.
1 What the service does
You buy or send an item to us. We receive it, open it, and inspect it. We remove any invoices, packing slips, and original shipping labels, wrap it as a gift, and add your message card if you have written one. It then goes to the recipient from our address in Austin, Texas.
The sender shown on the outbound parcel is Lucullion Gifting. Your name and address do not appear on it.
2 Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and using a payment method registered in your own name. We verify your identity through your payment details and retain those records for every shipment we handle.
The service is currently available for shipments within the United States only.
3 Declaring your item
You must tell us what you are sending and what it is worth before the item reaches us. Both matter: the description lets us check the parcel on arrival, and the value determines what we are able to cover if something goes wrong.
If what arrives does not match what you described, we will contact you before doing anything further.
4 Inspection
We open and inspect every parcel we receive, and we photograph the contents before wrapping them. This is not optional and it is not something we can waive on request.
This service is private from the recipient. It is never anonymous to us. That distinction is what keeps it a gifting service, and it is the reason we are able to offer it at all.
We cannot accept sealed items we are unable to inspect.
5 Items we cannot send
The following cannot be forwarded under any circumstances:
- Anything illegal or stolen
- Counterfeit goods
- Hazardous materials
- Batteries and aerosols
- Perishables
- Alcohol and tobacco
- Weapons and ammunition
- Cash and gift cards
- Prescription medication
- Live animals or plants
- Anything a carrier prohibits
This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether something qualifies, please write to us before sending it rather than after.
6 Getting your item to us
You may take the item to a packing and shipping service, which is the route we recommend, or send it yourself. Either way, print the intake slip from your confirmation email and make sure it is placed inside the parcel before it is sealed. Parcels must be addressed to Lucullion Gifting and not to you by name at our address. We are not able to accept parcels sent to us directly by a retailer, because there is no way to identify which order they belong to.
Inbound shipping is arranged and paid for by you. We are not responsible for an item until it reaches us and has been checked in against your order.
Parcels must be under 20 lb and no larger than 18 × 14 × 12 inches. A parcel arriving outside these limits will be returned at your cost, and the service fee is not refunded.
7 Coverage, loss and damage
Every order includes coverage up to $250 against loss or damage while the item is in our custody or in transit to the recipient. Higher ceilings are available at cost: $6 raises the ceiling to $500, and $12 raises it to $1,000. Coverage is limited to the lower of the retail value you declared or the ceiling you have purchased.
We are not able to accept items declared above $1,000 while this service is new. If you are sending something of higher value, write to us before ordering.
If an item arrives damaged to us, we photograph it and contact you before taking any further action. We will not forward a damaged item as a gift without speaking to you first.
Coverage does not apply where the value was misdeclared, where the item was inadequately packaged for its journey to us, or where a loss results from something on the prohibited list.
8 Privacy and what the recipient sees
We do not disclose your name, address, email, or payment details to the recipient. The only information about you they receive is what you choose to write on the message card.
We collect the recipient's name and address in order to deliver the gift. We use that information for delivery and for resolving any delivery problem, and for nothing else. We do not market to recipients, and we delete their details once the delivery is complete and any issue has been resolved.
A recipient may ask us to decline all future shipments from a given sender to their address. We will honor that request.
9 Refusals and returns
We may refuse, hold, or return any shipment at our discretion, and we will always tell you why. This includes items that are prohibited, items that do not match your declaration, and items we judge unsafe or unlawful to forward.
Where we return an item to you, we do so at cost, and that cost is payable by you.
10 Fees and refunds
The service fee is $55 per gift and includes outbound shipping. Inbound shipping to us is yours to arrange.
The service fee is refundable in full if you cancel before your item reaches us. Once a parcel has been received, inspected, and wrapped, the fee is no longer refundable, as the work has been carried out.
If we refuse an item on arrival, the service fee is not refunded and return postage is payable by you. Please check the prohibited list before sending.
11 Timing
We aim to inspect, wrap, and dispatch within one to two business days of your item reaching us. Delivery then follows standard carrier timeframes, so please allow around a week from end to end.
We cannot guarantee arrival by a particular date, and we would encourage you to allow more time than you think you need around holidays.
